Welcome to Houston Cloud Computing User Group (BigData/Clusters/IoT) 2016

Just as Cloud computing is evolving, so are we ... you can be a part of it ... read on ...

Our Vision  (further reinforced)
To offer our community a single point of access for Cloud Computing covering topics such as BigData & Small Data, Distributed/Parallel/Cluster/Grid/HPC and now IoT, from a consumer/user/provider / business / enterprise perspective,  that is unbiased and vendor neutral.
case in point - this site & email is powered by Google,  venue is provided by Microsoft Houston Office, content covers multiple Microsoft and Non-Microsoft technologies (such as, Hadoop, Office365, Azure, Google Apps, Amazon), including the equipment and infrastructure vendors (such as Fujitsu).

Our History (our evolution with the Cloud)
Founded in 2008 by Anthony {Tex} & Samantha Moreign, with the support of John Hellman, Victor Chataboon, J Sawyer and others.
2008 to 2010 : HCCUG=Houston Cloud & Cluster User Group - was closed to members only, as the Cloud was in its infancy.
2011 onwards: HCCUG=Houston Cloud Computing User Group - open to all at-no-charge, with the focus on Cloud
2017 onwards: revamped HCCUG,

Our Revamp Gist ... more to come Feb-2017
1. more meetings = more content/goodies/opportunities/goodies for our community
2. more content = while other user groups expand into the mainstream Cloud offerings (e.g., Azure), we forge further ahead, e.g., BigData & IoT
3. more open = more non-Microsoft and more sponsors mean more for our community

Next Meeting:  Our next meeting is scheduled Feb-22 at 6pm on Hadoop presented by John Hellman.
