for those done spending their time=life, money, etc. ... bypass whac-a-mole'ing Windows/Apple/etc.
realigning for our 20ᵗʰ anniversary … meanwhile, this site is Proof_of_Past
a_nobody's™
for those done spending their time=life, money, etc. ... bypass whac-a-mole'ing Windows/Apple/etc.
EU & others are freeing themselves of BigTech (beyond politics) ... computer manufacturers made Windows add-on ... why?
this is also born out of our efforts to lookout for our friends & our community (non-Techies & Techies)
This is paying_it_forward. Not being paid to talk about anything by any vendor. Sharing per the NOTICE (in site footer).
It is up to you to do your own due dilligence, and use it for good. We are not responsible or liable in any way,
" what is shared may not be posh & polished ... but it will be of immediate value & straight-to-the-point.
the below is still relevant (glimpse of how far ahead of the curve we have been & continue to be :-) "
NOTE: ALL this applies to every single person ... who believes they should lock their house, apartment, etc. :-)
we are starting with the OS, then the apps, then we will address other things
… "zone in on what matters, to you"™ … focus on foundation & core … eye-candy will come later
Windows ... is now an AI_frontend (not your PC) — just search and you will find what that means —and— also focus on Windows Recall
Apple ... though it is a *nix-variant ... my parents taught me not to play with my food.
... NOT even touching the mobile os that this paper titled as "Evil Never Sleeps" https://arxiv.org/abs/2205.06114
Linux & Open Source is essential to being free of BigTech ... that seems to influence BigLinux (e.g., Cannonical, RedHat, SUSE)
… not wasting time rehashing Debian & its derivative Ubuntu (by Cannonical), Fedora & its derivative RHEL (by RedHat), openSUSE (by SUSE)
… you do know GrapheneOS android and that Motorolla will be releasing with this soon
… plus there are linux phones (for another article)
Unix & C … the gold standard ... K&R!
browsers: librewolf (what firefox should be, remember extension for tab-containers), ungoogled chromium, and helium
with uBlock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin
and search engine: duckduckgo.com + duck.ai and other things mentioned DPSK™.
BigLinux the systemd + wayland — pushing for "vNext, Now" — e.g., wayland lags in feature parity with what it is trying to replace X11, meanwhile X11 stagnates
non_BigLinux the non-systemd + XLibre — the Linux folks making sure XLibre (a fork of X11) continues to be viable for those seeking stability & practicality
NOTE:
there are a lot of distros, and camps, as Open Source is the buffet ... not getting into them rather just staying on point
again, just sharing what appears ( could be waaaay off ) ... sharing to help (per Disclaimer in the footer :-)
non_BigLinux: more like actual Linux with non-systemd options + XLibre +++
Lunduke Computer OS ... speaks for itself (see below exerpts) ~and~ is built on Devuan.org ( nosystemd.org + X11Libre )
No Age or ID Verification
No Online Accounts Needed.
No AI.
No Weird Politics.
No Forced Rust Clones.
Modern Tech. 90s UI --- if you do not like it you can always change the UI
NOTE: browsers & search engines: refrain from default Firefor / Chrome — see our DPSK™ for their derivatives. Also, you too can start with Devuan and tailor your own.
BigLinux: the systemd + wayland, etc. seem to be following BigTech (windows, apple, etc.) ...
however, here are 3 distros that build upon BigLinux and make an effort to help us with some viable options within BigLinux
Tails for annonymity, runs of an USB and is in a class of its own, everytime you reboot, it is a fresh/new system, it does have a way to save files.
IF you choose to use persistence to be able to save/store across reboots, tread carefully
IF you choose to use its unsafe browser, you lose a lot of what Tails gives you, so, at least https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin
KickSecure the folks who build whonix for Qubes ... and Qubes is considered the best you get in Linux world within BigLiux
~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~
just be aware that not all distros will work via this approach, most will, burn the others to an actual usb
... now that you know you can be safer :-)
BTW: … and what platform/operating-system/browser are you & those you care about using?
